Staff and students have raised £367 for Macmillan Cancer Support at the much-loved annual Coffee Morning event, which was organised by members of our Sixth Form Team.

Mr Collingwood, one of our Art Teachers has recently organised a bake sale in the Common Room with all funds raised going to The Lily Foundation.

On A'Level results day, Sixth Form students, Brooke, Adam and Freya met with Shadow Secretary for Education, Bridget Phillipson to discuss the challenges they had faced as a result of Covid-19.

Sixth Form students from King James I Academy are celebrating another fantastic set of A2 and AS results. Across all academic and vocational qualifications pupils achieved 100% pass rate and many achieved A*, A and B or equivalent grades. They will now go on to study a range of university courses and undertake apprenticeships in a range of subjects.

To ensure our Sixth Formers have the best chance of success when applying for university, apprenticeships or a job, we arrange a work experience week for Year 12s to help them learn new skills and add to their CV.

In the next academic year, students in Key Stages 4 and 5 will be able to apply to take part in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Awards (DofE) and work towards achieving Bronze.

Sixth Form students have been visited by representatives of the County Durham Wellbeing for Life initiative, which offers free advice and emotional support to over 16s.

Former student, Kaci S has triumphed at the Street House Dance Championships, claiming first place in both the Over 17s Advanced Solo category and the Over 17 Advanced Pair.

Our Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition students have been carrying out experiments to investigate how different processes can change the properties of food.

This term we celebrated the achievements and effort of students in all year groups at our annual Prize Evening event. After two years of virtual celebrations due to covid restrictions, it was excellent to be able to welcome families into our Academy in person once again.
