We offer a range of qualifications and over 20 subjects to choose from. From A Levels to BTECs there is something for every student. Some qualifications are exam based where as others entail coursework assignments or are entirely founded on coursework. This allows students to make a better choices about what they wish to study, based on their strengths and weaknesses.
All subjects have lower than the average class sizes, making teaching highly focused on the individual needs of each student. Due to this there is excellent progress tracking from tutors and teachers, some of which involves regular reports on the development of students. As a result, individuals often achieve higher than predicted results.
Our Sixth Form team and all teaching staff provide excellent support with studies, higher education and careers advice.
We have a Common Room, Careers' Library, Kitchen, Study Area and good ICT facilities available to the students
King James I has a very dynamic Sixth Form life! Like the rest of the school, Sixth Formers are encouraged to take part in various activities and projects in the school. ROOTS our drama group for instance, includes many of the Sixth Form students. Our Academy has many international links with countries like America, Brazil, Jamaica, Ireland and Spain, which has enabled some of our students to travel abroad as part of their studies.
Furthermore our Sixth Form has explored many Universities in England as part of higher education support, some of those including Oxford, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Teesside and Liverpool. Our Music Department hosts a number of student bands and they are encouraged to take part in local musical events.
