Our Chromebook Scheme

The use of Chromebooks at King James I Academy

Here at King James I Academy, we have run a Chromebook computer scheme for the past six years. Students receive a brand new Chromebook in Year 7 that they will use all the way through to Year 11. The use of Chromebooks enhances the effective and dynamic learning strategies used by teachers across our Academy. In addition, Chromebooks enable students to access a wide range of educational applications, many of which have been embedded into lessons to support students learning experiences.

The fantastic progress we have made through chrome books as a tool for blended learning has been recognised by RM Education, using our school as a case study to share best practice nationally. RM's case study is available here.

It is a requirement for all students to have a Chromebook for use in lessons, for homework and absence due to illness or isolation. Chromebooks should be brought into school every day, along with a charger, and be fully charged the night before.  During the time that your child uses their chrome book, if there are any technical issues or repairs required, this can be arranged with our I.T technicians.
