This term we celebrated the achievements and effort of students in all year groups at our annual Prize Evening event. After two years of virtual celebrations due to covid restrictions, it was excellent to be able to welcome families into our Academy in person once again.

The cast of A’ Level Performing Arts have completed their exam piece based on dreams and the inspirational work of American film director, producer and writer, Tim Burton.

This week, we have delivered over 50 hand made Easter cards to two of our local care homes, Church View Care Centre at South Church and Eden House at Cockton Hill. We hope the messages inside bring a little joy to our elderly residents this Easter.

Sixth Form Media Studies students are currently producing a selection of short documentaries on a variety of fascinating topics.

Each year, Sixth Form students in our Media Department raise money for a charity of their choice by selling 'Christmas Greetings' to students and staff; these are then displayed on the walls of our main corridor. This year however, the money raised was used to buy toys for the Angel Trust Toy Appeal and staff were keen to boost the donation further with additional gifts.

This week, Mrs Elizabeth Varley, our Chair of Governors, has been interviewed on film as part of a short documentary film about the history of King James I Academy.

Year 14 Media Studies students are currently working on a range of TV news programmes aimed at children and young people as the target audience.

Students and staff at King James I Academy have raised over £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning event 2021. This is just one of the many charities that the Academy chooses to support each year.

Following the warm and wet summer holiday, Year 13 Photography student, Sean C has returned to King James to find his bug hotel fully booked with an array of insect guests!
