Pupils at King James I Academy have achieved one silver, two bronze, and four participation awards in this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge.

Students and staff at King James I Academy have raised £100 for the UKs Young Minds charity, which focuses on raising awareness about young people’s mental health.

Our Year 13 students, under the guidance of Mrs Lobb, have been very busy completing their UCAS application forms for entry to University next year.

Two students have already received offers from their first choices. Rebecca H and Georgia A are very happy to have received offers from Newcastle, Northumbria and York universities. Congratulations!

This year our year 13 leavers were very successful, leaving us with excellent results and securing places at destinations of their choice, including a range of universities across the county, degree apprenticeships, further education and employment.

King James I Academy, Bishop Juniors FC and Shildon AFC have signed an exciting new partnership agreement.

On our last day of school before the holiday, Sixth Form students, their Tutors, Teachers and the Sixth Form team celebrated the end of a hugely successful first term with a Christmas party in our new Common Room.

A team of four of our A’ Level Maths students, have recently competed in the regional finals of the Senior Maths Team Challenge in Durham.

A group of 25 Year 12 students have recently travelled to York where they visited York St John’s University as part of our Aim Higher programme.

Two of our Sixth Form RE students, Amelia C and Rebecca H, have taken part in the ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ project as part of their studies.
