Building on the success of last years Year 7 Nurture Group, our new group of Year 7 students have been focusing on the book, "Billionaire Boy' by David Walliams.

Representing King James I Academy, young athlete, Leon D has recently celebrated winning the BSGA Regional Schools Trampolining Competition.

A group of seven Year 11 Students are working on a Pearson BTEC in Construction (QCF) and ABC Level 1 Award in Automotive Studies at Bishop Auckland College.

Following a recent visit to Stockton Town FC's excellent facilities, Darren Tait and leaders from King James are currently completing a joint development plan to enhance our excellent facilities.

As part of their Level 3 qualification in Animal Management, our Sixth Form students have recently enjoyed a visit to the RSPCA at Felledge Animal Centre in Chester-le-Street.

A group of our students have recently attended a talk and book signing at Waterstones in Durham City with American author and comic book writer, Joe Hill.

On Friday 10th November our Academy fell silent for two minutes to reflect upon the meaning of Armistice Day and Remembrance Day. The service was held outside in our new memorial garden with members of our Academy Council in attendance to represent students in all year groups.

King James I Academy has recently won an award in the ongoing Active Durham competition. The Academy was declared local winner in the Secondary School category for outstanding contribution to Sport, Physical Activity and Physical Education.
