Students have recently visited Watermillock in Ullswater for our annual, week-long outward bound trip. Unlike last year's arctic conditions in Howtown, the weather was good, which meant that students could take part in a wider range of outdoor challenges.

This year, we launched the King James Badminton Club for students in all year groups. Run by Ms Stewart, one of our Student Support Workers, not only has the club proved hugely popular, but it has also revealed some previously undiscovered sporting talent.

On Wednesday 11th December 2013, the Under 16's District Badminton Tournament took place at Greenfield School.

The Under 14's District Badminton Tournament took place on Wednesday 4th December 2013 at Bishop Barrington School.
November 2013
Monday 25th November, saw Mrs Barlow and her elite Boccia Team win the first game of the Boccia season 7-3. The King James team travelled to Consett to play a tough game against Villa Real.

King James students are preparing to defend the Durham County Boccia League Championship title, gained in July 2013 when Mrs Barlow and her elite Boccia players took the crown after winning the league by a 10 point margin.

On Monday 21st October, Darlington under-17's played against King James' Martin Gray Football Academy Team. The match was organised to coincide with the official opening of our new state-of-the-art 4G sports pitch, with all donations from spectators going to the charity "Scope'.

King James is 'ahead of the field' and looking forward to the opening of the first 4G Artificial Turf Pitch in Bishop Auckland.

King James I Academy Golf Team have won the British Heart Foundation Junior Golf Championship, which was held at Close House Golf Club where Lee Westwood is the tour professional.

On Sunday 14th July 2013 a group of eight students and three staff from King James I Academy visited Muirfield Golf Club for the first Practice Day of the British Open Golf Championships.
