As Mr Shearer steps down as Head of Sixth Form, he will be passing the baton to Mrs Nicholson, one of his former students. She will be supported by Mrs Lobb as Assistant Head of Sixth Form.

Last term we hosted an interschool Maths competition for Year 10 students. The competition featured a host of fun maths questions designed to improve problem solving skills and promote a love for the subject.

Cllr Joy Allen, the Mayor of Bishop Auckland has visited King James to present three of our students with some very special awards. The presentation was a special occasion for all involved as it was also the first official engagement as Mayor for Cllr Allen.

This week, around 180 Year 8 students at King James I Academy have taken part in a special event with a focus on staying safe in a variety of life situations.

A group of 31 students in Years 7-10 have recently taken part in an exciting five day trip to Ullswater Outward Bound Centre in the Lake District.
