KJ Linked - Weekly Learning Toolkit

29/06/2020 - KJ Linked Issue 13 released!

As you will have seen, the Government is encouraging secondary schools to consider a partial return for Year 10 and Year 12 students from Monday 1st June 2020. Our view continues to be that it is important that we take appropriate, extensive and considered actions to assure the safety of all members of our school community to make the right decision at the right time.

Year 6 Q&A

We realise that you will probably have a lot of questions about King James and what it’s like to start secondary school so we have put together a panel of staff and students who will answer any questions you might have. See previous questions or ask your own questions in here!

Ask a Question

Dear Parent and Year 6

As we are all aware, things are very different this year but we know how important transition activities are to a smooth start to Year 7. We are having to do things differently this year and as a first step, we have created a new part of the King James website especially for you. Over the next few weeks, there will be more information and activities here for you to help you to get ready for life in Year 7.

As a start, we are launching our reading competition. Mrs Reynolds has picked four books for you to read and to use them as a springboard to imaginative projects which you will be able to tell us all about. All of the books can be accessed via a website and details on how to log on can be found on the introduction page. You can find out about ancient civilisations, the world and how to look after yourself.

We have also chosen the award-winning transition programme ‘Be Awesome’ for you to complete. This is a series of activities, short films and texts to help you prepare for Year 7, starting with having a positive image of yourself and then looking at the different issues which you might have to face as you start secondary school. There are two books which complement the course and deal with transition but you do not need to buy them. To finish the project, there is a range of challenges which you can complete and then show your form tutor and Head of Year.
