Parents Tell us Reasons for Choosing King James I Academy

In September 2018, due to an exceptionally high number of applications, 184 young people will be joining Year 7 at King James. This is the largest intake we have had in recent years, and one which has led us to employ a number of additional Teachers to ensure that our class sizes are not increased.

Tim Peake's Space Shuttle Experience Goes Mobile

The exhibition of Tim Peake's return to Earth in the Soyuz TMA-19M descent module after six months on board the International Space Station, has now left our area for York, however around 150 young people at King James I Academy have recently enjoyed a virtual reality experience thanks to a themed touring bus.

Following our win at local level, we are now celebrating further victory in the Active Durham Sports Awards. At the Durham County Awards ceremony, King James won the award for Secondary School Contribution to Sport and Physical Activities.
