Over 630 people attended our annual Year 6 Open Evening event this year. Visitors met our leaders, teachers and students, enjoyed an academy tour and took part in a host of fun activities in all departments.

Following a welcome address from Headteacher, Mr Whitehead, visiting children were given a KJ goodie bag before heading off for an Academy tour and activities challenge. Year 6 pupils and their families enjoyed character design in Art, Halloween themed sets and light trails in Photography, a host of Science experiments, including organ dissection in Biology, and a range of fun Maths puzzles.

Pupils also took part in a 'Bedtime Stories' style filmmaking activity in Media Studies, and in the Library, they were invited to choose a free book to take home.

In Food & Nutrition, families were able to sample tasty Chinese stir-fry, prepared to order by our own students, and PE fans enjoyed outdoor activities on the floodlit 4G pitch, plus trampolining in the Main Sports Hall. There were also a variety of exciting activities in History, Geography, Languages, Business and RE, and live music performances throughout the evening.

For those who wish to enrol for September 2024, the closing date for applications is October 31st. Visit www.durham.gov.uk to apply for a place for your child.
