Year 9 Geography students have been taking part in a fun activity in teams to design and build a structure that would survive an earthquake!

Pupils have been studying the causes of earthquakes in lessons and looking at case studies from across the world. As part of this they have also learned about the latest developments in architectural design that many countries have adopted to prevent collapse and subsequent catastrophe should an earthquake occur in future.

The activity allowed students to use engineering and mathematical skills to develop a sturdy structure that may not survive an actual earthquake, but would at least survive a shaky table!
