Students in Years 7 and 8 have enjoyed an inspiring live interactive theatre experience called 'Smashed', which raises awareness about the dangers of underage drinking. Sessions were delivered at King James by Mia, Jack and Isaac from the team at Collingwood Learning.

The touring programme is designed to enable learning and promote responsible decision making by giving students the opportunity to observe, explore and reflect on vital underage drinking themes through a series of mini plays with realistic scenarios. Themes include the social and emotional causes of underage drinking, the impact on young lives, social influence and decision making and how to get help for yourself and others. By interacting with the characters in each play, learners rapidly identify the causes and consequences of underage drinking and by playing director, they can re-shape the story and develop new attitudes and behaviours that will help them make the right choices in their own lives.
