Girls watched a thrilling match on Court 1 at Wimbledon 2017.

Our 'Girls Active' group have travelled to London to experience the thrill of Court 1 at Wimbledon. The trip was organised as a reward for their positive attitude and contribution to PE lessons.

Accompanied by Director and Assistant Director of Learning for PE, Miss O'Connor and Miss Short, the group of eight students in Year 9, watched an exciting four-set match between Kei Nishikori and Serhiy Stakhovskyin. In blistering 34 degree heat Nishikori took three hours to claim victory, so not only was it a fantastic example of professional tennis, but it was also an inspirational lesson in stamina and determination.

The trip included opportunities for sight seeing and shopping in our capital city, alongside a visit to The Cambridge Theatre to see the musical stage show of Matilda.

As part of this department initiative, which sees a new group nominated each year, the girls organised a number of fundraising activities to help support the trip. Well done to Chloe I, Chloe B, Molly B, Amelia C, Victoria M, Lia B, Jasmine W and Emily A.
