DSE Regional Athletics Championships 2013

Isaac, Holly and Laurie with Eileen Barlow.

Three of our students have returned from the 4th Annual Legacy Games at Monkton Stadium in Jarrow with a host of medals.

The event incorporates the DSE Regional athletics Championships, which sees participants from across the North East, aged from 12-20 years, compete in various track and field events with the aim of qualifying for the National Championships. All competitors have physical, intellectual or sensory impairments and have reached the qualifying standard following Talent ID Days held across the region.

Accompanied by members of our Learning Support Team, Mrs Barlow and Mr Blackburn, Isaac M achieved an impressive four medals, taking Gold in the Precision Bean Bag Throw and Position Ramp Ball and Silver in both the Powered Wheelchair Slalom and Position Club Throw. Laurie N returned with two Gold medals in the Powered Wheelchair Slalom and the Position Club Throw, and Holly T achieved Gold in the Discus competition.

Laurie and Isaac have both qualified for The National Championships, which will be held in Blackpool from 13-14 July 2013. We wish them the best of luck.
