Since the initial launch last academic school year of the Academy Bank in conjunction with Darlington Building Society, popularity has gone from strength to strength amongst the students of King James.

The Academy Bank will be continuing again this year, providing students in Year 10 and Year 11 with the opportunity to develop their monetary understanding and experience the benefits that can arise when opening and using a structured yet simple bank account from a young age.

Students, at this age are not always aware of the complicated financial future ahead and with the Year 11 reward scheme initiative it raises further awareness of this and enables independence; with money being earned throughout the school year through a variety of achievements, it not only improves the school community and develops positive money management skills but it also provides students with a small disposable income that could contribute to their end of school prom, driving lessons, even smart clothing for an interview.

The "bank' will be open every Monday lunchtime; offering potential students an application pack that is incredibly simple to complete, as well as allowing current bank account holders the chance to deposit or withdraw their own money from their accounts.

If you are interested in starting an Academy bank account, Mrs Lobbs and other members of bank staff will be situated around the Lunch Hall every Monday, handing out application packs and all will be happy to answer any questions and queries you may have.
