Year 9 students have taken part in a Crime and Safety Awareness Day run by the charity, 'Prison, Me, No Way!' which works with young people in secondary schools across the UK to raise awareness about the causes and impact of crime.

Students enjoyed a selection of themed workshops throughout the day including 'One Punch' which raises awareness of the dangers that one punch can cause; 'County Lines', which educates young people to recognise when they may be being taken advantage of, and 'Prison Life', which gave students an insight into life in a prison cell using a state-of-the-art mobile replica cell!

The cohort also heard the testimony of a female ex-prisoner who shared her story as a victim of domestic violence and her reaction which changed her life forever, and learned about the law relating to social media and how to protect themselves online.

Overall, the event, which was organised by Mrs Cross, Director of Learning for RE, was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about issues that are particularly pertinent to their lives today.
