Each year, our new Year 7 students are issued with a personal Chromebook to help them with their studies as they progress through the key stages. This ensures that students in all year groups benefit from access to a personal laptop.

Our new Year 7 students now have their own Chromebook to use in lessons and at home. Many also use their Chromebook to work on homework tasks before and after school, and enjoy the freedom it gives them to access the host of Google Classroom resources provided by their teachers.

We launched our ‘Chromebooks for all’ initiative six years ago and it proved to be an enormous success, especially during the recent lockdowns which forced school closures. Thanks to the programme, 100% of our students had the facilities needed to continue with their learning from home.

Our teachers delivered live lessons via Google Meet throughout lockdown and set a wide range of learning activities on Google Classroom, with students submitting their work in the same way.

The Chromebook scheme ensured that none of our students were disadvantaged; this was particularly important for students in Year 11 who were studying for exams and completing coursework. Results this year show that our virtual learning programme certainly paid off!
