Remembrance Day Video Tribute

Our annual Remembrance Service is an important part of the Academy calendar but this year, due to Covid restrictons we had to take a different approach to marking the day.

Instead of the usual gathering around our memorial, we created a video tribute which was played in each and every classroom around the school. The video included archive photographs, music and a voiceover reading of the poignant poem, ‘For the Fallen’ by Robert Laurence Binyon, alongside footage of our Vice Chair of the Governing Body, and decorated veteran, Mr George Campbell, laying the poppy wreath.

The sound of The Last Post echoing around our school buildings was palpable, and many of our students and teachers commented that the video made them feel more involved in the Remembrance Service.
