The Skydive from 10,000 feet also included a 30 second freefall.

Mrs Ashman, our Physics Teacher, has recently raised over £250 for Grace House in Sunderland by completing a 10,000-feet sponsored Sky Dive, complete with 30 second free fall, at Peterlee Parachute Centre.

Despite her daring spirit and existing love of all sport, Mrs Ashman had never before considered such an extreme sporting challenge; however, she enjoyed the experience so much that she is already planning a second jump, this time from an even greater height! What's more, now that she has discovered the thrill of a sky-based challenge as opposed to those on land, she is investigating the possibility of Paragliding to raise funds!

As a regular supporter and fundraiser for Grace House, Mrs Ashman is full of admiration for the services that the centre offers the community and our region. The facility offers both day and overnight respite opportunities to families with disabled children and gives disabled young people the opportunity to access highly specialist adapted equipment and facilities that they cannot enjoy in their own homes. It also provides an important place for young people to socialise, which promotes self-belief, confidence and independence.

Mrs Ashman feels strongly that Grace House should receive much more support for the excellent work it does and so strives to take part in as many fundraising activities as possible, including running for the centre in the Great North Run in September.
