Year 10 Photography students achieved excellent results using smoke grenades.

Students have been developing their photography skills on location at High Force, Low Force, Cow Green Reservoir and Egglestone Abbey.

The trip was organised by Mrs Mulryan to give students the opportunity to gather material for their coursework. In lessons, students first researched the locations and planned the different types of photographs that they wanted to take on the day. They used props and lighting with outstanding results, and some even used blue smoke grenades to create fantasy and horror themed photographs, pictured here.

The group experimented with different genres of photography, including landscape, close up, portraiture and documentary imagery, as well as experimenting with a wide variety of camera techniques to create a range of effects. The morning started off bright at Egglestone Abbey, resulting in some excellent shots and students making the most of the ever-changing light, which became more atmospheric and dramatic for the horror themes shot later in the day.

Our increasingly popular Photography courses, at both GCSE and A-Level, focus on students developing specialist technical knowledge and practical skills, both of which complement many careers in the creative industries.
