This month sees our 2015-16 Student Leadership Team take up their roles following a week long campaign and academy election.

The election was organised by our Director of Learning for Creative Media, Miss Whitaker, pictured above with the leadership team, following the great interest shown by our students in this year's general election. "Students were extremely interested in the whole process," she said. "We enjoyed visits from some of our local candidates and it was clear from the questions our students asked, that they want to be directly involved in decisions that may affect their future. The Academy election allowed them to do that."

As part of the election process, each candidate had to prepare their own manifesto based on what they thought would most appeal to their peers, and devise a promotional campaign to rally support. This led to a final presentation in our main hall and voting session which took place over a two day period with students in Key stages 3 and 4. Votes were cast in a specially created voting station, complete with booths designed to ensure a realistic election scenario.

Year 11 students, Cai L and Alex H gained the majority of the votes and were appointed as Head Boy and Head Girl, along with two deputies and a team of prefects to support them in the year ahead.
