Professor Kilcoyne delivered an inspirational Chemistry show.

In a return visit to King James, Prof. John Kilcoyne of TV show, 'Brainiac Science Abuse' fame, has inspired and amazed our students with his unique Chemistry show.

Professor Kilcoyne, who is primarily employed as a Lecturer at Sunderland University, is well known for his appearances in the popular TV Science show. Our students were extremely excited to see his unique style of presentation, which combines amazing experiments with a level of humour that is inspirational. He did not disappoint; with fire, explosions, messy chemistry demonstrations and liquid nitrogen flowing all over the stage, it was almost like attending a rock concert!

The audience of pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 were thrilled at the display of chemistry phenomena and clearly inspired by Professor Kilcoyne's infectious enthusiasm for Science.

The Professor also talked about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and was keen to encourage more girls to become involved, as these careers are traditionally male dominated.
