Welcome to the latest issue of Vision, our Academy magazine.
I must start by congratulating all of our A’Level and GCSE students on another set of fantastic results.
I am delighted that so many Year 11’s will continue into our Sixth Form this year, and that all Year 13 University applicants secured their first-choice places, including one student reading Medicine and
another accepted to Oxford University. We are immensely proud of their achievements and wish them all well in the future.
We are very much ‘Post Covid’ now within school, with all activities returning to normal, and you will see in this issue of Vision that students have enjoyed a huge amount in the last year as they have made up for lost time.
International visits are back on the agenda, alongside a huge range of local and national educational experiences, with many more planned in 2023/24. We aim to get as many students as possible involved in these visits as we look to broaden their horizons.
We have also incorporated a full Year 6 transition program this year, with primary pupils spending up to six days in King James prior to them starting in September.
This transition program culminated in our Summer School and experience at Weardale Adventure Centre, where students could build on new and existing friendships. Year 5 pupils also visited the Academy during the summer term and we received excellent feedback from them. We look forward to seeing those students and parents at our Year 6 Open Evening on 27th September.
I’d also like to thank our parents and community for their ongoing support over the last academic year. We look forward to working with you again this year as we continue to build on our successes.
Best wishes,
Simon Whitehead, Headteacher
