Year 10 Geography Trip to London

July 2023

As an end of year reward, and Geography educational trip, two of our Geography teachers, Mrs Patterson and Mrs Mason, took eight Year 10 students down to London for a fun-filled overnight stay.

Our students got the train to London, where they began their morning by indulging in croissants and chocolate pastries on unicorn party plates, before going down to explore Wimbledon. Sadly, they didn’t get the chance to see the tennis due to poor weather conditions, although despite the rain, they still managed to entertain themselves by walking around the courts and shopping around the area (highly successful!)

The group then went back into the centre of London, and ate at Prezzo for tea, before heading out for a night at the theatre to see Wicked, which received amazing feedback from everyone. Neither the students or teachers had much knowledge on the storyline of the play, but all were left astonished by the end of it, agreeing that it was a wonderful surprise. To end the night, the group got the tube back to the hotel, entertaining the streets with singing and dancing in the rain before they went to bed (nothing was going to stop them from having a good time!)

The following day, students were treated to a full breakfast buffet, and let’s just say that there wasn’t much left by the end of it! They then went over to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford for a guided tour and a clear insight into how sustainable it is, developing their Geography knowledge first hand. This tour also included looking at the pool, velodrome and across East Village where our students got to witness the Olympic and Paralympic rings. Did you know that London is the only place in the world to have the Paralympic logo, because it is the only sell out Paralympic setting across the globe?

The group were in for a real treat with the final visit as they ended the day with some blissful Harry Potter shopping before the train journey home. What a lovely way to finish the school year for these hard-working Year 10s!
