Students in Years 7 and 8 have been taking part in a study skills carousel to learn how to apply different revision techniques to all subjects.

Throughout the day, lessons were focused on practising a range of revision strategies including mind mapping, flash cards, revision clocks and quizzing. By trying a variety of techniques, students were able to discover the one which was most successful on a personal level in helping them to learn and retain key information. They will now be able to confidently use their new skills both in school and at home during periods of independent study.

We know that all students are different in the way they learn, and this is also true of the way pupils revise, with some methods proving to be better than others. All year groups benefit from revision carousel days such as this; by introducing students to the techniques from Year 7, we have seen greater confidence and higher level achievement in assessment periods.
