Sociology students enjoyed an informative tour of the Spanish Art Gallery.

A' Level Sociology students in Year 12 have been exploring The Auckland Project's art galleries from a new angle, considering the differences between the two, and the way each team has tailored the visitor experience to two different intended audiences.

This visit to the Spanish Art Gallery and The Mining Gallery was part of the group's studies into cultural products and activities, looking at the ways that different consumers are generally less likely to engage with sites such as art galleries. Being able to see 'behind the scenes' of these galleries, which many have visited before as part of previous school trips, inspired them to think critically about the culture we are surrounded by and the society in which we live; this is exactly the goal of studying sociology!
