Department Information

Travel and Tourism has historically been a popular option for students in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. In 2019 we will be offering brand new qualifications to students which are aimed at supporting students who are interested in learning about the travel and tourism industry with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses or employment in the travel and tourism sector. The Travel and Tourism sector is the UK’s third-largest employer, employing nearly 3 million people and tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK.

Key Stage 5

The qualification offered in key stage 5 is a natural progression from the BTEC Tech Award studied in key stage 4 which is the BTEC National Extended Certificate (equivalent to 1 A-Level) in Travel and Tourism. This qualification is a combination of coursework and external assessment and provides a vocational perspective of the travel and tourism sector. The topics listed below are studied across Year 12 and Year 13.
