The Glastonbury Experience

Each year, Sixth Form students in Year 13 have the opportunity to become a member of our Glastonbury Festival Recycling Team and join the 30,000-strong volunteer team that work at the iconic music festival each year.

Volunteers work for six hours each day and in return, they enjoy camping with upgraded facilities in specially reserved crew areas, free crew uniform and festival memorabilia, and inclusive meals for the duration of their stay. Most importantly, they get the opportunity to see the worlds greatest musicians live on stage and take part in a host of cultural experiences from across the globe.

Students are always in awe of the amazing atmosphere at Glastonbury and benefit greatly from the experience overall in terms of increased self-confidence, resilience and independence. Team working and social skills are also improved and for those who are about to enter the world of work, or those who are due to leave King James to take up university places, this improved level of confidence is a major advantage as they are more sure of their ability to adapt and succeed.

Becoming an official Glastonbury Festival Volunteer not only enhances a student’s CV, it entitles participants to priority volunteering placements at future festivals. With Glastonbury tickets selling out in minutes every year, this is a distinct advantage for those who wish to return, and there are few who do not wish to relive the experience!
