Our FBM (Future Business Magnates) Team have finished in second place in the FBM Competition 2016 with their eco-friendly product called Eazy Shred.

Once again, our Year 13 trip to Glastonbury Festival was an unforgettable experience for members of the Volunteer Recycling Team. Launched three years ago by Mr Longstaff as a work experience trip, the opportunity has now become a highlight of our Sixth Form calendar.

In our Maths department, students have been working on a trio of team challenges inspired by "The Apprentice'. All challenges, which involved the use of practical mathematical skills in real world situations, were designed to allow students to put their learning into context.

Each year, we celebrate the success of our young mathematicians as they take part in the prestigious UKMT Maths Challenges; this year was no exception

Mrs Ashman, our Physics Teacher, has recently raised over £250 for Grace House in Sunderland by completing a 10,000-feet sponsored Sky Dive, complete with 30 second free fall, at Peterlee Parachute Centre.

The Secondary School Athletics Championships, which was held at Shildon Athletics Track, was a cause for celebration for King James students when our Year 7 boys won their category.

We have now reached the end of our ten-week long Premier League Reading Stars programme in our Library and are delighted to announce that our Year 7 boys have made fantastic progress.

This month, over 400 local primary school children visited us during Year 5 Curriculum Week to take part in a variety of exciting lessons and experience secondary school life.

Members of our 'Accelerated Readers' initiative in our busy Academy Library have excelled this term and earned a staggering number of Kindle Fire competition raffle tickets for their efforts.

In July, we will be celebrating comic books in our Library with a special event and competiton for students called 'Word Warriors'.
