Some of our Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Awards candidates have completed an 8.5 mile walk with Geography Teacher, Mrs Fegan to prepare for the expedition element of the Bronze Award.

Students volunteered to take part on a Saturday, walking from King James along the Weardale Way to Witton Park, and back after a stop for lunch. Students coped extremely well with the challenge, despite the unexpected heat, and all now feel confident in their ability to complete the expedition later in the year.

This is just part of the criteria for achieving the Award; students must also complete volunteering and physical tasks, and develop a new skill.
