A group of Year 10 students have attended the annual Christmas Maths lecture at Teesside University.

This year’s speakers included Colin Wright, who showed students how to link juggling to complex mathematics, and Rob Eastaway, who discussed the importance of intelligent approximations. Students made predictions from patterns and were able to complete some complex mathematical calculations using ‘back of the envelope’ thinking strategies.

They enjoyed the lectures tremendously and many of the participants are now strongly considering continuing with Maths at A’ Level.
