A team of seven Year 8 students have received an independent award for Best Financial Plan and claimed 4th place overall in Business Durham’s long-standing Future Business Magnates competition 2019. The team competed against 17 other schools.

This year, the competition theme was ‘Made in County Durham, Sold to the World’, focusing on exporting. Led by Business Studies Teacher, Miss Thornton and partnered by EBAC Limited, the team developed an ingenious portable breastfeeding product called ‘Mamma and Me…Comforting Arms’.

The students, Leah B, Erin H, Yoyo C, Amy V, Lilly R, Phoebe R and Alex M, completed six challenges throughout the year and produced four detailed reports about the success of running a business. The girls thoroughly enjoyed celebrating in style at the glittering Awards dinner, which was held at Newton Aycliffe’s Xcel Centre.
