Creative Media students in Years 10, 11 and 12 have been treated to an unusual workshop in SFX makeup. Local makeup artist, Amy Algar visited the Academy to deliver a special effects workshop and demonstration, designed to educate media students on how to use liquid latex to create zombie prosthetics and props for filmmaking and photography projects.

A group of our Year 7 students meet every week for Thursday Book Club and as part of this they get involved in the Yoto Carnegies, the UK's longest running and best-loved children's book awards. This recognises outstanding reading experiences for children and young people, created through writing and illustration in books.

Students at King James I Academy have been invited to be involved in a project at Shildon railway station called Shildon Smart Art. The collaboration between our academy and Shildon railway is designed to give our Year 9 students an opportunity to take part in a community project.
