The STEM Robotics Club gives Year 7 students the opportunity to develop a host of new skills and advanced knowledge.

Our Robotics Enrichment Programme was launched as part of our commitment to driving forward STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The project is now hugely popular and growing.

Robotics Club was initially aimed at Year 7 students, who were all keen to join our weekly sessions as a result of the robotic-based activities that they had experienced in our Transition Summer School. Students have spent the last few months learning how to construct and adapt robots to perform different tasks; this has helped them to develop excellent skills in Maths, Engineering and Programming, alongside many other transferrable skills such as problem solving and team working.

"There is a huge amount of excitement and enthusiasm from the teams during our weekly enrichment sessions," said Mr Lawton, "and a rapidly growing interest in the club from many of our students in other year groups, including Sixth Formers, some of whom join our sessions each week as mentors."

"This term, we will be working hard to seek funding, which will allow us to purchase more robots and therefore increase the number of students who can get involved at King James. Additional funding will also allow us to extend this exciting learning opportunity to pupils in our partner primary schools."
