Year 13 student, Bethany H, pictured here, has been successful in her application for the prestigious 'Robert Young Scholarship' from Durham University.

Already delighted to have gained a place to study at one of the UKs most prestigious Universities, Bethany now has an additional reason to celebrate. As a recipient of the scholarship, she can look forward to beginning her degree course with the benefit of fully paid tuition fees and student accommodation fees; this amounts to a considerable financial sum, which is renewable each year.

Applicants are awarded the scholarship based their academic achievement and also on their potential to excel at University.

Mr Shearer, Head of Sixth Form said, "Bethany has worked extremely hard throughout her time at King James and has excelled in our Sixth Form. She has been an excellent student and I am sure that she will achieve highly at Durham University. This scholarship is just reward for her hard work and dedication. We wish her the best of luck."
