The start of the school term is a busy time for the library at King James with an abundance of exciting and encouraging incentives and national events ready to be promoted throughout the autumn term.

October is a busy month for book admirers; to commemorate Black History month, a series of themed lessons and displays are planned to raise awareness of this historic period. At the end of the month, Halloween will be a prominent theme around the library and school, enticing students who love this time of year with a showcase of well-known eerie films, a variety of spooky fictional books and a range of innovative lessons and activities scheduled for this Halloween "spell'.

Daniel Wheatley, King James' enthusiastic librarian, explains that all the exciting events and promotional book days that occur during the year are in place to change student's perceptions of literature. "Books are a vital source of information and pleasure in our lives", he said. "Whether it's during education, escaping reality into a fictional world at home, or finding out information from a factual source, books are essential in all areas of life."

Other upcoming events to look forward to, and that are occurring this term, are a national "Harry Potter' book event in aid of the Literacy Trust for all students that admire Mr Potter and his wizardry ways; and the on-going "Charity Book Buzz' will also be in progress for students which encourages them to choose a book of their choice from a wide-ranging selection. As Christmas approaches, there will be a variety of festive activities and a "Who Killed Santa Claus' game scenario for students to participate in.
