Winners of the UKMT Challenge 2013

Each year, some of our most promising Maths students from each year group are entered into the prestigious United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Individual Challenges with consistent success. This year is no exception and our students have, yet again, proved that they are talented mathematicians.

The UKMT Challenge is a national competition which recognises the best Maths students in the UK and rewards the top 40% with Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates.

The Intermediate Challenge was taken by students in Years 9 and 11 while our Year 7 and 8's completed the UKMT Junior Challenge. For Year 7 students, this was their first attempt at some very interesting, non-routine questions and one student in particular, Euan, stood out as a fantastic young mathematician, achieving no less than three awards. We are sure he has a bright future.

The following students, pictured here, were successful in winning a certificate for their excellent mathematical skills.

Intermediate Challenge:

Year 9: Thomas M - Best in Year and Silver Award; Iwan M - Bronze Award

Year 11: Faye J - Best in School, Best in Year and Silver Award; Joshua M - Silver Award; Daniel B - Bronze Award; Chris B - Bronze Award.

Junior Challenge Winners:

Year 7: Euan E - Best in School, Best in Year and Silver Award

Year 8: Evie W - Best in Year and Bronze Award; Abigail S - Bronze Award.
