Students and staff at King James I Academy have been fundraising to support the work of the Angel Trust this Christmas, and have made donations to both the charity’s food bank and the Christmas Toy Appeal.

Fundraising to support the local community is an important part of life at the school and events take place throughout the year, however the festive season is the busiest time and potentially when help is most needed. Despite the cost of living crisis faced by many families, students and staff still rallied to collect around 2,000 items of food for The Angel Trust Food Bank; this will be used to help families in and around Bishop Auckland.

The school also organised a range of fundraising raffles to generate money which, along with staff donations, helped to provide a host of toys and gifts for the annual Angel Trust Christmas Toy Appeal. This aims to make sure no young person goes without a gift this Christmas.

In addition to this, the Academy made a substantial donation to the food bank charity, Feeding Families, and raised funds at the school’s festive fair event which will help to fund the creation of a new sensory garden for community use.
