Students and staff at King James I Academy have raised £100 for the UKs Young Minds charity, which focuses on raising awareness about young people’s mental health.

The Academy took part in the charity’s Hello Yellow campaign, which was designed to coincide with World Mental Health Day. Andrew Jinks, who has recently joined the Academy to co-ordinate the new Shildon AFC Football Academy at King James, led the fundraising initiative with Head Boy and Head Girl, Adam H and Freya D, pictured here. Together they sold yellow badges to students and staff across the school and supporters wore them with pride.

Each year, King James has an extensive calendar of fundraising events, and despite the restrictions the pandemic has placed upon education, the school hopes to find safe ways to continue supporting worthy causes at both a local and national level.
