Three of our Sixth Form Music students have received letters of praise from the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company for their support in the recent Primary Shakespeare Festival.

Bethany L, Adam H and Shelley E, pictured here, demonstrated their stage management skills and supervised the sound and lighting for the event, which took place over two days. This was an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a respected organistaion.

Barbara Gentles, Festival Artistic Director and Lead Teacher for the Royal Shakespeare Company Associate Schools Programme said, "I would like to extend my gratitude to the students for their work as Lighting and Sound Technicians at the festival."

"They were responsible for producing sound and lighting to complement performances by ten schools in the RSC Regional Shakespeare Festival for The Durham Ensemble, over two full days, and

throughout this time they produced an excellent standard of work, contributing greatly to the quality and success of the festival."

"To their credit, they did not have the opportunity to see any of the performances until the day of the festival and they only had one rehearsal. They liaised successfully with teachers and the festival director, operating technical equipment and following script directions."

"Their attitude and work ethic was brilliant; all staff were extremely impressed by their pleasant demeanour throughout and their attention to detail. I wish them every success in the future."
