Throughout the year, our Academy Library organises a host of special themed events, competitions and trips to promote reading and improve literacy skills.

In January, students will be taking part in the BBC School Report which will help them to develop skills in journalism for both newspaper and TV production. Students will be writing articles about local news that means something to them.

In February, students in Years 7 and 8 will be developing their knowledge of Gothic literature in a visit to the renowned Gothic town of Whitby. They will enjoy a guided tour of the town with a local historian who will tell them all about the history of the buildings and the link to Bram Stoker and Dracula.

Also in February, students in all year groups will be able to join in our annual Harry Potter Book Night, which has quickly become a tradition at King James. This year, as we celebrate the books from the Harry Potter universe, the theme will be the "Harry Potter Ball'.
