Year 7 band, 'One Girl Too Many' were the competition winners.

This month, as one of our special end-of-term events, singers and musicians in all year groups entertained us by taking part in the 2017 King James Talent Show.

Organised by our Student Support staff and Music Department, the competition was open to all students and a number of acts sgned up to demonstrate their talent "X-Factor style'. Acts ranged from solo singers, keyboard players and guitarists to full bands performing a diverse selection of music from different genres.

In our Main Hall, each act performed in front of a 300-strong audience and three esteemed judges, Mr Grieveson, Mrs Dent and Mr Longstaff. All offered their personal opinion and words of encouragement before convening to discuss the merits of each and agree upon the winning act.

At the end of the show the winners were Year 7 rock band, One Girl Too Many, pictured here, who had the audience on their feet with their brilliant version of Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams'.

Our Music Department makes sure that students have regular opportunities to organise events and perform together throughout the year. Performing live at our many Parents Evenings and student events helps them to build confidence and improve their stage presence, alongside developing technical skills such as sound engineering, effects lighting and stage management. Music students will be performing at our Year 6 Open Evening in September.
