Media students in Years 10-14 have recently raised over £250 for charity by taking part in a six hour long Sponsored Silence. The event was the latest in a programme of fundraising activities which have been organised by the team since November.

The "Media Fundraising Challenge' was launched in response to an idea which was originally put forward by Year 10s, however older students in the department were keen to join forces, and as a result, a pro-active team of young fundraisers has emerged across all year groups.

Students decided to set themselves the challenge of raising £500 by the end of the academic year, and following group discussion and a unanimous class vote they selected the "If U Care Share Foundation' as their charity of choice for 2016-17. The charity helps to save lives by providing support around the prevention of suicide and promoting positive mental wellbeing; it also offers support services for families who are suffering the unique grief that is experienced after someone has taken their own life.

Already, the team has generated an impressive £410 towards their target, which means that the ultimate cash goal is well within reach. It is hoped that the forthcoming Chocolate Bouquet raffle for Easter will take them a few pounds closer!
