Aim Higher Trip to Edinburgh

Our students enjoying their visit around campus.

Fifteen Year 10 students have travelled to Edinburgh on a two day residential trip as part of our Aim Higher programme. They visited Queen Margaret University, which is located in the centre of the city.

Students were given the opportunity to involve themselves in a number of informative workshops around campus, discussing topics relating to the higher education application process and specific degree courses. Students were able to visit the academic areas on a campus tour, meet current university members and gain an insight into university life.

Students were also able to explore the city in their free time, which offered a taste of independence. They visited Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, Camera Obscura, Edinburgh’s fascinating museum of optical illusions, and other famous Scottish attractions. A visit to the campus grounds of the University of Edinburgh also gave students the opportunity to see the contrast between the two universities.

Our Aim Higher excursions are extremely beneficial for our pupils; they help to raise aspirations and prepare them for their future, whether they choose to pursue a degree or continue higher education in another way. Trips take place throughout the year to universities across the UK. All involve an overnight stay to give students the opportunity to experience the city which may become home for three years should they choose to study there.
