Mr Shearer, our Head of Sixth Form's "Aim Higher' initiative gives students in Years 9-13 an opportunity to visit universities across the UK to get a taste of student life. Trips take place throughout the year to cities including London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Liverpool.

Each trip includes an overnight stay and incorporates a tour of the university campus to view facilities and an opportunity to explore the city that may become home for three years while they are studying. The most recent Aim Higher trips took students in Years 9 and 10 to Northumbria University, whilst a group of Year 12's visited two campuses of Leeds Metropolitan.

Sixth Form student, Craig Richardson who attended the visit to Leeds said, "I really enjoyed the trip. I had never been to Leeds before; it is a vibrant city with lots to do and the university was amazing. After experiencing the atmosphere both in and around the campus, I am now really excited about going to university and feel much more confident about moving away from home. I intend to study Journalism and would certainly consider Leeds as an option."
