Sixth Form Media students have recently enjoyed a Re-ball and Climbing Wall taster session at the Academy organised by the Consett and District YMCA.

Re-ball is a team activity similar to paintballing, which can be played indoors or outdoors but instead of paint, rubber balls are fired at speeds of up to 200mph!

At the session students were able to experience firing the powerful re-ball guns at targets set up inside a "safe tunnel' and get an idea of what a team combat session would be like. Afterwards, all said that they would like to organise a whole class outdoor session.

Students were also able to try out the climbing wall, which was equipped with three rock faces and six climbing routes arranged in increasing levels of difficulty. For some, the wall offered the opportunity to overcome a fear of heights and for others a chance to try something new. Jack L surprised himself and everyone else, by attempting and conquering the most difficult rock face.
