Sixth Form Media students have recently turned author-illustrators for a BTEC unit on Graphic Narrative. Eighteen students in total have written and illustrated a range of children's story books and comics for a variety of age groups, with exceptional results. Their work has now been produced as a collection of hard-back books.

"When I was first given the task of creating a book, I was sceptical, however, as the unit progressed, I enjoyed it more and more. It was interesting to discover the different forms of Graphic Narrative, from WWI propaganda to Japanese Manga, and I enjoyed using this research to develop my own ideas."

"The unit allowed me to combine creative writing skills with illustration, which was enjoyable, however the best part was actually having my book produced and holding it in my hands, knowing I'd completely created it myself. I'm really proud of my work, especially since I was so unsure at the beginning. I didn't realise how satisfying it would be."
