New School on Track for January Opening

Sir Robert McAlpine builders have made excellent progress with our new Academy over the summer holidays and are hoping to provide us with access to the new building as early as 15th December this year.

We have now agreed on the internal colour scheme, which will be unique to each department, and have finalised all minor details such as door handles and classroom name tags. The packing boxes have even started to arrive to support the move into our new home so, the once distant prospect of moving now seems imminent.

In January, our brand new building will be complete and the focus for development will move to our Middle School listed building, which will undergo an extensive but sympathetic refurbishment programme. Windows are already being removed and refurbished and, following a letter to the Secretary of State for Education, we have secured approximately £100,000 of additional funding to help to improve the masonry. It is expected that we will be able to move into the refurbished building in May 2015, followed shortly after by the demolition of Main School and the onset of landscaping works.

The much-anticipated plans are rapidly turning into a reality and we must therefore begin to consider an appropriate name for our new building. We would be interested to hear suggestions from students, staff and members of our wider community.
