Head boy, George B begins the tree planting ceremony.

A tree has been planted at King James to mark the beginning of the multi-million pound building project that will see our academy transformed by September next year.

Representatives from the Education Funding Agency and construction firm, Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd, who are building the new school, joined staff, students, governors and special guests to witness the tree planting ceremony, which took place on land adjacent to our dinner hall that will be unaffected by the construction work.

The new two-storey building, which will provide state-of-the-art facilities for 950 students, will replace the existing 1970's building; this will be demolished during the final phase of the project to make way for a number of new sports pitches and landscaping.
